What is a Virtual Assistant (VA)?

The Internet has changed the landscape of business. With the advent of automation, telecommuters, virtual offices and increased entrepreneurship, keeping up with change can be challenging. Out of this evolution has emerged the Virtual Assistant: self-employed, off-site, administrative professionals who are assisting businesses of every size in meeting the challenges and needs that accompany these changes.

Traditionally, we were known as secretaries, administrative assistants or executive assistants, and we were located in the cubicle across the hall. The Internet age has removed the boundaries of geography and, with the shift towards more professionals working from their homes or in satellite offices, the "Secretary" of yesterday has become the "Virtual Assistant" of today. We are accessible with a few keystrokes.

Virtual Assistants are the CEOs of their companies (similar to their clients). We are highly skilled professionals capable of having a powerful impact on the productivity of our clients.

What are the benefits of using a Virtual Assistant?

Virtual Assistants offer administrative support to business owners, executives and entrepreneurs.

Their services can be used as a company's only administrative resource, or on an overflow basis eliminating the burden of paying a second full-time administrative professional;
They provide several advantages over in-house staffing by eliminating payroll taxes, insurance and benefits, equipment, space and time, while providing high quality professional support.
The traditional way to  provide alternative staffing has usually been to hire through a temp agency. This is not necessarily as cost effective because even while a temp is "filling in" for another who is sick, or on holiday, there are times when they will be idle.
A Virtual Assistant, in being the owner/operator of their own company is much more invested in the quality of their services and the reputation they will harvest from a job well done.
Requests for specific personnel may not always be possible as they may be out on another assignment.
Outsourcing has become a management tool, freeing companies to build upon their core competencies by leaving the non-core support to specialized providers.

As a support to your business, I pledge....

to avoid conflicts of interest and insure that you, as the client, are aware of any potential conflicts.
to present a fair, honest and objective viewpoint.
to safeguard the privacy and confidentiality of all information entrusted to me.
to refrain from using the resources of any clients for personal gain for any purpose.
to accept full responsibility for work that I perform.
to truthfully represent information concerning the capabilities of my equipment, software and systems.
to only offer those services which I perform well, and aid the client in finding assistance for the tasks which I am unable to perform.
